Itinerary
Kick-off your Ouarzazate to Morocco Merzouga desert by morning departure from your hotel to the Toudgha Gorges. The first destination of your trip will be Skoura Oasi, about an hour from Ouarzazate. Here, you can wander the green fields of palm trees and learn about life in the oases. Next, you will visit the beautiful kasbah Amredhil and tour its local museum. This site is a good representation of adobe-built housing in southern Morocco.
From here, you Merzouga desert tour takes you via the Valley of the Roses, and then Kel’aa M’gouna. Here, you stop for a tea break with a Berber family and visit the local cosmetic co-operative.
Afterword, you drive off-track along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs as far as the Dades Valley. You will explore the valleys and have lunch on the spot. In the afternoon, there is time for a walk alongside the Boumalne Dades river. Then, your itinerary continues to the Toudgha Gorges. An authentic guest-house offers dinner and night rest. After breakfast, there is time for a leisurely walk in the Toudgha Gorges and in the Tinghir palm trees grove. Afterwards, you drive to Merzouga via the Ziz Valley, remarkable for its long green oases and fortified kasbahs. Morocco Merzouga desert. Morocco Merzouga desert
Later on, stop in Erfoud for lunch. Here, you can visit the fossils exhibits, featuring locally made fossils souvenirs and furniture. There is no obligation to buy, but the exhibits are worth exploring!
At the campsite, check in to your tent and sip a relaxing glass of tea. In the course of the afternoon, enjoy an hour sunset camel ride around Erg Chebbi dunes. Ascend the sand dunes to watch the sunset from the summit (250m). Morocco Merzouga desert. Morocco Merzouga desert
At night, dinner is served under a starlit sky, followed by traditional singing and drumming around a campfire. Then, a private nomad tent in a Merzouga desert camp offers night rest.
Wake up early in the morning and ascend the summit of the dunes. You will be rewarded with spectacular views of the sunrise. After breakfast, there is the opportunity for a second camel ride.
Then, your Merzouga desert tour adventure continues to Agadez via Berber villages as far as N’Qob where we stop for lunch. Shortly after, explore the village and learn about life in the Berber villages.
Afterwards, the route continues along the Dra’a Valley with all its fortified kasbahs and unlimited palm trees. Shortly after, you drive off-road which allows a closer impression of life in the villages and oases. The night will be spent in a beautiful guest-house in Agdez.
After breakfast, you drive south to Tamegroute village. Here, you will visit the green pottery workshops and learn how to make pottery items. and the Koranic library. The return to Ouarzazate takes you off-road through the old Road of the Caravans.
You stop to explore the Dra’a Valley and to have lunch. Next, visit Kasbah Tamnougalte with a local guide. The kasbah is completely built of adobe and is still partly inhabited.
In the afternoon, you return to Ouarzazate over the Anti-Atlas and the Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass (1660m). You will be escorted to your hotel to end of the trip.
