Day 2: Fez – Fez

Full day tour in Fez . Fez was founded by Idriss I in the twelfth century and was for years the cultural capital and focus of the Almohad Dynasty .It is one of the imperial cities with a lot of interesting history and crafts, also one of the largest medinas in the Arab world. Day 3: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt

Breakfast and departure to the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in the charming town of Ifrane, also called Little Switzerland in Morocco, a vestige of the days of the French protectorate. We cross the great cedar forests inhabited by pastoral communities. Then we enter deep into hidden Morocco, you can see the typical adobe houses and the nomadic and semi-nomadic populations.We arrive in Midelt, this small town, during the first half of the 20th century, had important mining activity but when it ceased to be profitable was slowly abandoned. Dinner and overnight in Midelt.

Day 4: Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

Heading south, past the mountains of the High Atlas, we arrive in Errachidia via ziz gorges, where we see the first big palms. Continuing, we come to Erfoud, the economic capital of the Tafilalt region. In this area, the fossils abound, testifying that in the past,this region was covered by the sea. From here the asphalt ends, by Saharan tracks we arrive at the dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Merzouga – Erg Chabbi desert tour

Today our day will be spent traversing the entire oasis extending around the Erg Chebbi Dunes. We pay a visit to Khamlia; visit the deserted city of M’fis, discovering small villages and inhabited houses in unexpected places, far from civilization. Also we visit the nomads that are there and take tea with them. Late afternoon, an excursion riding camels into the sea of dunes, it is difficult imagine such an unforgettable evening. Typical Berber dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Merzouga -Tinghir

Breakfast and departure, passing through the town of Rissani, meeting centre of ancient caravans from the Sahara. Later we stop at Goulmima, where we will visit a Ksour (adobe walled village) dating from the fifteenth century and still inhabited by more than 2,500 people. Continuing our journey, we travel through semi-desert landscapes until we reach the oasis of Tinghir, possibly one of the most beautiful places in Morocco. Following the Todra River, we see impressive gorges that reach over 300m. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Tinghir – Ouarzazate

Breakfast and after a brief visit to the village, we take the road of the thousand kasbahs to reach the Dades River, where over time, the river has eroded the rocks, forming a peculiar landscape. Arrive in Ouarzazate one of the most important cities of southern Morocco, known for its intense cinematic activity, having to his credit films like Gladiator, Troy, The Mummy etc. Visit of the KasbahTaourirt. Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, we take the road towards Ait Benhaddou, the queen of kasbahs, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continuing along a winding road, through the pass of highest mountain in Morocco Tizi n Tichka ( 2,260 m ) to reach the imperial city of Marrakech. Ouzoud waterfalls, over 100 metres in three tiers, are some of the most beautiful cascades in North Africa, an ideal place where you can enjoy the tranquillity after the business of Marrakech. Al Quaraouiyine Mosque

Al Quaraouiyine, built in 859BCE by Fatima al-Fihri, is believed to be one of the oldest universities in the world. It now operates as a mosque and cannot be entered by non-Muslims. However, its library, renovated in 2016, is open to the public, and you can get a glimpse of the impressive, handmade tilework dating back to the 9th century. You can also get a perfect view of the mosque courtyard from the rooftops of nearby restaurants in the medina.

Al-Attarine Madrasa

A historical landmark, the Al-Attarine Madrasa is located near the Al-Quaraouiyine Mosque and the Al-Attarine Souk, a market with a variety of local spices, dried nuts, fruit and much more. Built between 1323 and 1325 and named after the market, the madrasa was an annex to the mosque and is decorated with the same design; magnificent green and blue zellij tile work, carved plaster and cedar wood, plus classrooms indoors and a fountain in the courtyard.

Medersa Bou Inania

Right at the entrance of the old medina lies the former theological college for Muslim intellectuals. Built by Sultan Bou Inan in the 14th century, it has been beautifully restored, featuring incredible mosaics, carved plaster, cedar mashrabiyas (lattice screens) and impressively large doors. The inside is splendid, with a fountain in the courtyard and endless, handcarved walls and zellij(mosaic) tilework. It also has rooms on two floors, where classes used to be taught.

Merenid Tombs

These tombs house the skeletal remains of sultans and other royals of the Merenid dynasty. Although not intact, and most of the decorations and engravings have faded throughout the years, you can still see the authenticity of the architecture. The climb up the hill is definitely worth it for the view over the 1,200-year-old medina, especially at sunset. Just don’t stay too long after nightfall, as the descent can get difficult in the dark.
